In the world of sibling antics, there was a brother who was more than just a sibling; he was a one-man superhero squad. This is the story of the day he became not only a brother but also a best friend and an accidental martial arts philosopher. I'll never forget that day when my brother, my best friend, my hero, decided to give me a lesson in martial arts. Little did I know, his teaching method was, well, unique. He allowed a girl to beat me up, all in the name of learning the value of martial arts. It was like something out of a cheesy action movie. But he was always a step ahead, a true sensei in the making, and his wise approach actually made me appreciate the art. He turned a potential humiliation into a life lesson. My brother, the wise warrior, and my personal laugh-inducing sensei, was a hero in my eyes, even when he let me get choked for the sake of wisdom.

It all began with an unexpected airborne undergarment – a bra, no less! Our friendship was forged through the power of that lacy missile, and I still can't help but chuckle every time I think about it. I was on stage, when out of nowhere, a bra was flung in my direction. Later that night, standing at a bar a young man, Aden, came over and stood strangely close, doing some sort of odd body movement. Naturally, I thought this was some newfangled dance craze and joined in with my own awkward moves. He eventually stopped, and asked, "Hey man, can I get my girlfriend's bra back?" I awkwardly I handed it over. Little did I know that this bra-tastic encounter would be the start of a hilarious and unforgettable friendship.
Anton Nienabar - Groomsman
Ah, the tale of Anton and I – the artist and the rugby enthusiast who, against all odds, became the best of pals. Back in school, he was one of the cool kids with the rugby crowd, and I was the artsy soul who couldn't quite find my groove in that world of boet-speaking, ball-tossing jocks. But life has a hilarious way of surprising us. Anton and I ended up forming an unlikely bond. We went from awkwardly coexisting to embarking on epic Clarens adventures and road trips that could fill a comedy script. To the jock who became a friend, I say thanks with a smile on my face. We proved that friendships can sprout in the unlikeliest places.
Corne Vermaak - Groomsman
In my younger days, I was a bit of a know-it-all with a head full of dreams, rocking a rebellious vibe at Church. With my super cool long hair and an air of confidence, I had convinced myself that I was the next big thing in the church band. But then, there was Corne, a fellow band member, who initially disliked me even more than I thought I was the bee's knees. I don't exactly recall how it happened, but let's just say my grandiose notions took a beating. Today, Corne isn't just a friend; he's practically a brother. We've laughed till our sides ached, cried over life's rollercoaster, faced terrifying challenges, and shared more secrets than a squirrel hoards nuts for winter. It's safe to say that Corne and I have discovered that true friendship exists.

Little did we know that beneath his quiet demeanour lay the makings of a legend. One fateful night, after we persuaded him to take a sip (or more) of liquid courage, Fuff transformed. He emerged from his shell like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Suddenly, he had comebacks for everything, and he became the undisputed king of banter and the great shit talker of our group.

Matty, the latecomer to my life, arrived as if the universe had said, "Hey Jaryd, here's another fantastic addition to your awesome group of friends!" Even though I haven't known him for as long as some of the other guys, it's as if we've been buddies for years. Matty, your intelligence, and pursuit to becoming a great person is outstanding. You have seamlessly blended with the rest of us, and it's hard to imagine our lives without you. Here's to many more adventures, laughs, and crazy escapades, my brother in arms.
